Youth Song and Dance Festival – A Celebration of Latvian Soul
Every five years, Latvia bursts into song, rhythm, and color as tens of thousands of young voices and dancers come together for one of the country’s most beloved traditions: the Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival (Skolu jaunatnes dziesmu un deju svētki).
In 2025, the magic returns from July 5–13, filling Rīga with youthful energy, national pride, and centuries-old cultural heritage.
What Is the Youth Song and Dance Festival?
It’s not just a festival – it’s a national cultural movement. More than 35,000 school-aged children and teens from all over Latvia (and even abroad) gather to perform in massive choirs and dance formations that celebrate Latvian folk traditions, unity, and creativity.
This festival is the junior version of the famous Latvian Song and Dance Festival (held every 5 years for adults), and it’s just as powerful, emotional, and breathtaking.
