This year, Riga celebrates its 825th birthday, with the main festivities taking place on August 15 and 16 under the theme “Open Riga! Code: 825!”
Visitors can enjoy celebrations throughout the city, including 11 November Embankment, Riga Old Town, Vērmanes Garden, Victory Park and Esplanade.
What’s happening?
The festive programme includes:
- Live concerts and DJ performances
- Street theatre, circus and artistic performances
- Traditional crafts and local markets
- Food and drink areas
- Krastu Mačs basketball tournament
- Riga Football Festival 2026
- Activities for children and families
On August 15, the Old Town and 11 November Embankment will become some of the main celebration areas, with music, performances and entertainment throughout the day.
The festivities continue on August 16, with sporting, cultural and family-friendly events across Riga.
